Well  I did not see that movie yet but I did see "The Impossible" and young Holland carried that movie so she better be damn good because Holland IMHO was robbed blind.

What can I say? I've been paying to the Oscar races and the movie awards season since 2000 and things still leave me confused. I too don't understand why Tom's accolades were strictly limited to the Young Actor awards while Naomi got the Best Actress Oscar nod. Great performances being second-fiddle to another performance is very common. I still remember how Leo got all the awards accolades for What's Eating Gilbert Grape while the performance of Darlene Cates was just as excellent but very overlooked.

She was a knockout, so hard to believe for a young girl that never did any sort of acting before, I wonder if she can continue or was it a one off, kind of like the kid from that oldie Kramer vs Kramer.

Ah cool. So you Brits aren't too peeved that she's often beat out Tom Holland for the young actor performances this year, eh?

    • Quvenzhane Wallis made history in two ways with her Best Actress nomination for Beasts Of The Southern Wild. No, it doesn't make her the youngest ever as that still belongs to 8 year-old Justin Henry for Kramer vs. Kramer. Here are her achievements:

-at age 9, she's the youngest Best Actress nominee ever.

-she's also the first person born in the 21st Century to be nomined for an Oscar.

      Great job Wallis.

    • The first movie awards have been decided: the National Board of Review awards. This year the Best Male and Female Breakthrough awards went to two young actors. Our own Tom Holland won the male award for his performance in The Impossible. The female winnier is Quvenzhane Wallis who's not a TSO star, at least not yet, for her perofrmance in Beasts Of The Southern Wild.

Here are the award winners. Gala will be held January 8th: http://www.nbrmp.org/awards/

    • Well I am sure the kids are thrill to get it but you do have to question some of the decisions and the wining process is not transparent enough it seems there is no real criteria you can put your hand on that gets a star the hardware. And too many top notch performances are not even submitted I mean Kodi Smit McPhee in "The Road" a fwew years back that should have been a lock.

Thanks Trevor, going to check it now see how many of our TSO made a nom.

A lot were. Some were left out, like Thomas Horn and Robbie Kay. They also left out some other good ones too like Hunter McCracken in The Tree Of Life. I'll never understand awards shows.

An Awards show is an awards show. Even now some might question the choice of winners. Like I never saw Dakota Goyo inReal Steel but I wonder how he beat out Asa and Joel Courtney. Some might even question Chloe winning over Elle Fanning. One thing I learned is that the YAA's don't owe anyone any favors. I remember five years ago the Oscar-nominted performance of Saoirse in Atonement lost to AnnaSophia in Brdge To Terabithia. Also Freddie Highmore never won an individual Young Artist Award. Does get you thinking.

Another thing too is I think there should be an award for acting on Youtube videos. I even feel the kids from Kids React deserve an award. :-D
