I decided to predict only the movie awards as they are the ones I have the best sense with. So without further ado, here are my predictions for who will win on Sunday. The * is my prediction for who will winn and the + symbolizes my prediction who will be its closest threat:

    Best Motion Picture, Drama

    -Hacksaw Ridge

    -Hell or High Water

    -Lion

    *Manchester by the Sea*

    +Moonlight+

This year looks like a race between Manchester By The Sea and La La Land for the Best Picture Oscar.

Best Motion Picture, Musical, or Comedy

    -20th Century Women

    -Deadpool

    +Florence Foster Jenkins+

    *La La Land*

    -Sing Street

Wouldn't it be something if Deadpool won? That would be a surprise.

Best Performance By an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama

    +Amy Adams, Arrival+

    -Jessica Chastain, Miss Sloane

    -Isabelle Huppert, Elle

    -Ruth Negga, Loving

    *Natalie Portman, Jackie*

All the buzz appears to be about Natalie Portman as Jackie Kennedy. I haven't seen it yet but I hope it's a film that not your typical depiction of her.

Best Performance By an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy

    -Annette Bening, 20th Century Women

    -Lily Collins, Rules Don’t Apply

-Hailee Steinfeld, The Edge of Seventeen

    *Emma Stone, La La Land*

    +Meryl Streep, Florence Foster Jenkins+

Emma vs. Natalie for the Best Actress Oscar. Tough call.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama

*Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea*

    -Joel Edgerton, Loving

    -Andrew Garfield, Hacksaw Ridge

    -Viggo Mortensen, Captain Fantastic

    +Denzel Washington, Fences+

Is this Casey's year to finally come out of Ben's shadow? We'll see.

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical, or Comedy

    -Colin Farrell, The Lobster

    +Ryan Gosling, La La Land+

    *Hugh Grant, Florence Foster Jenkins*

    -Jonah Hill, War Dogs

    -Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool

How about that? Two Canadians named Ryan competing in this category.

Best Performance By an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

    *Mahershala Ali, Moonlight*

-Jeff Bridges, Hell or High Water

    -Simon Helberg, Florence Foster Jenkins

    +Dev Patel, Lion+

    -Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Nocturnal Animals

Moonlight has to be one of the best films you most likely missed.

Best Performance by Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture

    *Viola Davis, Fences*

    +Naomie Harris, Moonlight+

    -Nicole Kidman, Lion

    -Octavia Spencer, Hidden Figures

-Michelle Williams, Manchester by the Sea

If anyone can steal Fences from Denzel, it's Viola.

    Best Director, Motion Picture

    *Damien Chazelle, La La Land*

    -Tom Ford, Nocturnal Animals

    -Mel Gibson, Hacksaw Ridge

    -Barry Jenkins, Moonlight

+Kenneth Lonergan, Manchester by the Sea+

Directors of Oscar-contending musicals often get the short end of the stick. I think Damien will get it here.

    Best Screenplay, Motion Picture

    -La La Land

    -Nocturnal Animals

    +Moonlight+

    *Manchester by the Sea*

    -Hell or High Water

This is usually where critical darlings have their best chances of winning. Definitely Manchester By The Sea's for the taking.

    Original Score, Motion Picture

    -Nicholas Britell,Moonlight

    *Justin Hurwitz, La La Land*

    +Johann Johannson, Arrival+

-Dustin O'Halloran & Volker Bertelmann, Lion

-Hans Zimmer, Pharrell Williams and Benjamin Walfisch, Hidden Figures

Admit it. A score from a freshly original musical is bound to take it.

    Best Motion Picture, Animated

    +Kubo and the Two Strings+

    -Moana

    -My Life as a Zucchini

    -Sing

    *Zootopia*

You can forget about Dory. This year's battle in the anomated category is Kubo vs. Zootopia. I'm predicting more for Zootopia because it's more family-friendly.

    Best Original Song, Motion Picture

    +“Can’t Stop the Feeling,” Trolls+

*“City of Stars,” La La Land*

    -“Faith,” Sing

    -“Gold,” Gold

    -“How Far I’ll Go,” Moana

Yes, it's tempting to choose 'Can't Stop The Feeling' but 'City Of Stars' will be the big winner for this year.

    Best Motion Picture, Foreign Language

    -Divines

    +Elle+

    -Neruda

    -The Salesman

    *Toni Erdmann*

Toni Erdmann and Elle have the biggest buzz but I'm going with Toni Erdmann.

And there you go. My predictions for this year's Golden Globes. winners to be decided on Sunday the 8th.
