John Paul Ruttan

John Paul Ruttan was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on May 12, 2001,  and has been acting since the age of six and had a resume that included many television credits by age eight.

Some of his numerous TV credits include the "The Rick Mercer Report" (2008) where he played ‘Kid Layton’ the son of Canadian NDP leader Mr. Jack Layton. That same year he appeared in the made for TV films "The Two Mr. Kissels" and "Will You Merry Me?" (Uncredited) and followed that up the next year with guest roles in several TV series such as "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and "Murdoch Mysteries." Other recent TV credits include "Royal Canadian Air Farce", "The L.A. Complex" "Backpackers," "Lost Girl" and "Saving Hope" (2014-17).

Ruttan eased into feature films with Defendor (2009) which starred Woody Harrelson and Elias Koteas. He then went on to play 'Joe' in "This Means War" next to Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine. His role in the film earned him a Young Artist Award nomination for Best Supporting Young Actor Age Ten and under in a Feature Film. He earned a nomination the year before for ‘Best Performance in a Voice-Over Role’ for his voice over work in the "Doodlebops Rock'n Road Show."

The young actor got a chance to act alongside one of the best child actors of the past when he landed a role in the feature I'll Follow You Down (2013) with Haley Joel Osment; the sci-fi drama also stars Gillian Anderson. He also played  ‘David Murphy’ the son of RoboCop in the reboot of the 80’s film RoboCop (2014) and Jake in "Shelby: The Dog Who Saved Christmas." He was a lead in the feature "Against the Wild 2: Survive the Serengeti" (2016).

Ruttan is a blue belt in karate and does some of his own stunts.
